Sri Lankan Navy personnel on Thursday (February 19, 2026) arrested 22 fishermen from Rameswaram and Mandapam close to the Katchatheevu and Neduntheevu islets. In addition they impounded 4 vessels.

In line with preliminary stories, Fisheries Division officers acquired data that 18 fishermen have been apprehended close to the Katchatheevu islet and 4 others close to the Neduntheevu islet. The 22 fishermen, together with their vessels, have been taken to 2 totally different naval ports in Sri Lanka for interrogation.
